Actron CP9180 No metric units

Otherwise a really nice product which does what it says, but you can not switch to metric units. If I would have know that upfront, I would not have bought this product.

The PC program is also very very basic.

This scanner is very useful. It can save you money on repairs.
Some auto shops charge 80% of what this uint cost just to read
a check engine light. Its always better to know what the problem
is before you the to a shop.

Actron CP9180 handy tool, but not for a diesel

work great, but dont try to use it on a diesel pickup, it wont even recognize it.
I bought it to diagnose my 2006 f350, and thought there was something wrong with the tool because it wouldnt even acknowlege that it was plugged in.
I have since found out that it doesnt work with diesels.
I am still glad I bought it though, I have since used it on many other vehicles.

Actron CP9180 Scanner - worth the money

This unit has already saved me money. It works as advertised and well worth the money. It will pay for itself with 1 or 2 uses. I like the feature of resetting the codes but a back light would be great. That is the only downside for me.

Actron CP9180 Good for emissions testing

I have a car that is getting up there in miles and passing the state emissions inspection is not as strait forward as it once was. Specifically I have a sensor in the transmission that is going bad, the Toyota dealer recommended replacing the transmission. I couldn't see paying that kind of money when I can not tell a problem except for the sensor issue causing the check engine light to come on.

The problem is I also had a EVAP control system issue at the same time, so I failed the emissions inspection. I got the Actron because it will show you all the sensors for the emissions inspection and tell you if they are ready, failed or OK.

I feel it has already saved me a good bit of time, because now I will know if I will pass the inspection before taking it over to a testing location.

This product fit my needs. It was easy to use and I was able identify the problem with my vehicle. It helps save money because now when I have a problem with my vehicles, I save time because I can pinpoint the problem so I can repair it myself or tell my mechanic exactly what needs replacing which saves money in troubleshooting time.

Actron CP9180 AutoScanner Plus Diagnostic Code Scanner is a replacement for the CP9135 I had which was out dated, version 2005 year. This works well.
